This ten-page graduate paper examines geography and development in Latin America. The author notes that globalization is moving both towards increasing complexity and increasing simplification, and will continue to profoundly affect Latin America as the twenty first century unfolds. Latin American membership in NAFTA would mean lower costs, easier distribution, more jobs, greater economic prosperity for everyone, and less confusing laws to deal with. But globalization and twenty first century geopolitics will introduce many challenges throughout Latin America as well, for they are polar opposites in terms of policy influence.
