It is most certainly true that at the beginning of the 21st century as indeed it has been true for hundreds of years that international trade plays an important part in the economy of most countries. As countries like Canada have become increasingly industrialized, foreign trade has become increasingly important to their economies. However, while international trade is generally to be considered to be a beneficial attribute of a nations economy, at least one of Canadas export products has caused a considerable amount of political uproar: The trade across the border of prescription drugs into the United States. This paper examines the trade aspects (as opposed to the purely political aspects) of such this trade.
