Nineteenth Century Chinese and British International Relations: Complimentary Civilizations
Within this paper, I interrogate the academic trend that analyzes the international relations between countries through the "clash of civilizations" theory. I suggest that the "clash of civilizations" theory supports political propaganda intended to prevent human beings from establishing a peaceful network of social relations. Hence, the fact that our culture often focuses upon certain Events specifically in order to estabish a national caricature conceals the fact that alternative, more peaceful Events exist, peaceful Events that can be used to establish calmer, more congenial relationships between disparate countries such as Britain and China.
