Personal Experiences of D-Day: Remembering Operation Overlord
This six page graduate research paper examines the personal experiences of American soldiers who took part in the Normandy invasion on June 6, 1944. The author notes that the experiences of Marcus White, Harold Wells, and Edward Clarke on D-Day are representative of the experiences of the hundreds of thousands of soldiers who fought in World War II, for like most of The Greatest Generation, they were all young, patriotic, and willing to pay the ultimate sacrifice in order to defend their country against tyranny and fascism.
